Well done, Maltesers

Big pat on the back for both of you!

What worked for him in the end?

20 mins phonics lesson daily
10 mins daily pack activities (reading of graphemes, blending words, segmenting words, reading sentences/captions and writing captions) I found Debbie's 'Simple sentences' very useful
Individual reading twice a week using Jelly and Bean books.

It really was a matter of modelling, modelling and more modelling and he just started to hear the words more and more. He even blended a word today and realised he had said one of the graphemes wrong himself. He started again and got the word. I am over the moon with him  Got to work on the segmenting now because he can do it when I am sitting over him but he is reluctant to have a go by himself in class.

I was so pleased with him today. He went to the Christmas writing area, got an envelope template, cut it out and then proceeded to write

sntaclws
nofpl

Santa Claus
Northpole

ALL BY HIMSELF!!!!
