You got there first, Jim! I was just copying the link to post it up. It cannot be a coincidence that the rising popularity of reading for pleasure for children follows on so neatly from the introduction of sp in all schools - more like cause and effect for me. As well as all the children involved, and their families, all children's authors- including those opposed to to phonics!- must surely be pleased.
