Today at 9 p.m.

"BBC 4:Autism: Challenging Behaviour

"Treetops School in Essex is the UK's only state school that uses Applied Behavioural Analysis, a controversial intervention to treat autism. But critics argue that efforts to eliminate autistic behaviour are dehumanising. The film follows two young boys through their first term."

At 10 p.m.

"BBC Radio 3: Free Thinking. Teaching the Teachers - the Future of Education.

"Sugata Mitra, who has gained global interest for his research into learning, talks to Philip Dodd about his vision of 'schools in the cloud' and the use of computers to self-teach."

I shall definitely be listening to Mitra, the man who put a desk-top computer in a hole in the wall of his business premises and observed how street children taught themselves to use it. The link page describes and evaluates this work briefly.
"... the innovator has as enemies all those who have done well under the old regime, and only lukewarm allies among those who may do well under the new." Niccolo Macchiavelli, "The Prince", Chapter 6
