Butterfly School

Post by chew8 » Thu Oct 11, 2012 7:32 pm

This article was in yesterday's Evening Standard:

http://www.standard.co.uk/news/educatio ... rnalSearch

Good stuff, though it's a pity that the Standard didn't mention that the programme used in Irina Tyk's 'Butterfly' programme (good synthetic phonics) and that the volunteers are able to implement it with minimal training. Anyway, it's good that Michael Gove admires the project - rightly so.

Huge congratulations to the people concerned - teachers and learners - and the parents who supported their children and the Butterfly school.

Well done to the very sensible Irina Tyk too! ;-)

It's very good to see this article about the Butterfly Project. Katie Ivens work has been simply wonderful.

Thanks, Jenny, for this report - it rings a lot of bells - so much pragmatism and common sense.

I know thisis an old thread but I am so exited I wanted to share my news.

I've applied to volunteer at the Butterfly School. I may not be able to help the children in the school my daughter attends, but I will be able to help other local (ish) children.

Thanks to LGP for pointing me in the right direction

Yes, I agree. I hope you are accepted and find it very rewarding. Please tell us on another thread how things are going at school if you can.

Yes, very good news. And, like Volunteer, I'd love to hear how things are. It would be good to catch up with this wonderful project.
