Script for CH4 TV 'The Dyslexia Myth'.

Post by Susan Godsland » Thu Dec 27, 2007 7:26 pm

This is a gem. It's the script for the Channel 4 TV Dispatches programme 'The Dyslexia Myth' which caused uproar when it was shown in September 2005. The programme slayed lots of myths about dyslexia but, unfortunately, perpetuated the main one; that it's caused by a brain glitch.

Warning -the Cumbrian Reading Intervention recommended on the programme is a gruesome mixture of Reading Recovery and Hatcher's phonological awareness exercises.

there is research evidence, published on the York University website, which shows, that for the weakest readers, this 'Cumbria reading intervention' did NOT work.
