Re: 6 year old non reader
Hi there, I have been singing the phonemes to him and it does work. He is definitely getting the words with this method. I have to do it several times but it is working. I also found this on the internet and wondered if anyone had tried it. http://www.leftshoponline.co.uk/toobaloo.ir?cName=toobaloo ...

Re: 6 year old non reader
Thank you Anna, I will certainly ask if there is money available for these books but in the meantime I think I will try setting up a bank of words for him to practise daily, starting with just a couple that he knows. I will continue with the modelling. I did try singing the sounds and he did seem to...

6 year old non reader
I work in year 2 with children 6 and 7 years old. I have taught SEN children in small groups for many years and this year I am struggling with one little boy. He is 6 and has had Letters and Sounds teaching for 3 years. He still does not blend or segment consistently. I have currently had him as par...

Re: Key Stage 1 Intervention
Hi there, sorry I haven't been around for a while. I have just seen this post. I did work with SEN in KS1 and was told to work at phase 2 of Letters and Sounds. It became clear due to the different needs of the children I needed to work in a very multisensory way and a fun way with lots of games. I ...

I am sorry that you have found errors in these sites. I suppose the definitions I look up are for Key Stage one so they appear to be correct. I wouldn't have any need to look up algorithm or do algebra. I hope others aren't put off by what you have found though because I do believe these sit...

I love these David. I will certainly be using them with my little ones.
This is a nice site too for making loop cards, no pictures though

Maizie the assessment section is just a reminder (from Letters and Sounds) of what the children need to be able to do by the end of phase 2. I find it helpful to have it at the bottom of each planning sheet. I don't teach tricky words or I don't intend to for quite some time, that is what I meant by...

Maizie I am in the same position with 2 children in my group with absolutely no English. I am working with a group of 7 children aged 5 and 6, all with SEN. Their problems are numerous. I am tteaching by 'Letters and Sounds' (my interpretation). We have completed 3 weeks now and both children know 8...
