* There are 166 correspondences, which are too many to learn
But presumably it's more than feasible to learn in excess of 166 words by sight!

I could weep too. * Eye movement studies show readers only fixate on 60% to 80% of words proving readers sample text and guess what it says * Researchers who say eye movement studies show we read almost every letter (Adams, 1994) have misinterpreted the findings. * Readers can’t read from left to ri...

Thanks Maltesers. I just wondered if there was more info than on the website as it's quite sketchy. Well done to you and your little lad and to Jelly and Bean. Are you working with him at writing too?

Does anyone have any up-to-date information about this programme?

It wasn't until I started to ask children in KS1 if they understood even the simplest of words sometimes that I realised how great were the gaps. We seem to take for granted a certain level of understanding of routine, everyday words and so few children seem to ask if they don't understand. Is this ...

I'd like to see more people writing online with their real names. That would be good but it can be a bit bleak and lonely out here in the world where loving books is enough for learning to read. When that boat you're rocking is your bread and butter it's harder still. Even where a school might be i...

A very good summary of our experience of the planning tool so far.

From what I can remember the idea of providing all this information in electronic format only was so that it can easily be changed and teachers will have immediate access. Will this necessitate even more replanning in the future?

Earlier and earlier they are discreetly teaching parents that others will look after or educate their children for them.
